Are you looking for somewhere in Costa Rica where you can feel at home and where you’ll instantly be accepted? If you are, then San Ramon is the place for you. This charming town is a true Costa Rican treasure. Unlike so many other cities in the area, it hasn’t become Americanized. It still retains that warm, welcoming traditional Costa Rican culture. While foreigners are pretty sparse in San Ramon (there’s only around 200 non-natives among the population of 17,000!), they are always welcomed with open arms and invited to become a part of this rich culture.San Ramon Costa Rica Real Estate

Close to Everything

It’s true that San Ramon is sort of a small town. But, it’s definitely still got all of the amenities you could ask for. Plus, the town is right in the middle of, well…everything. If you want to experience big city life, you won’t have to travel far, and you can always come back to a quieter, more peaceful existence.

You can get to the busy capital city of San Jose in just a little over an hour, and everywhere else is accessible through the town’s Pan American Highway. Day trips to Esaczu, Santa Ana, Cariari, and many other happening towns throughout the area are common.

San Jose and other large cities offer English movie theaters, malls with American stores, restaurants, and more. But don’t discount the shopping in San Ramon because it’s pretty great too.

Plenty to Do

Not only does San Ramon offer its fair share of shopping, but there are plenty of other fun things to do without ever leaving town. San Ramon boasts several nature parks, complete with hiking and biking trails that allow you to stay fit and have fun.

Also in town you’ll find a movie theater, a live theatre, a golf course, a community center, a roller and ice skating rink, tennis courts, gyms, a skate board park, and even a junior college. Pretty impressive for a “small town,” right? Rest assured that you’ll never be bored in San Ramon!

Take a Trip

Whether you’re a big-time traveler or just plan on flying back home every now and then, you’ll be happy to learn that San Ramon is in a super convenient spot for airplane travel. You can reach the San Jose International Airport in just about 45 minutes, and there are many services that offer cheap airport pickups and drop-offs from and to San Ramon, making it easier than ever to see the world.

Stay Healthy

When you encounter a medical emergency or just need a checkup, San Ramon has all of the world-class healthcare you could ever need. Legal residents enjoy unlimited medical care for approximately $50 per month.

That care can take place at a variety of public or private (more expensive) hospitals. Plenty of quality hospitals are located nearby, including Hospital Mexico, Hospital CIMA, Hospital La Clinica, and Clinica Biblica. Many of these medical centers even accept American insurance policies, so you can enjoy low-cost care even before you become a legal resident.

Eat Well

Another important part of the “health equation” is eating well, and it’s very easy to do that in San Ramon. Each weekend, two separate farmer’s markets open up shop and sell the freshest vegetables, cheeses, meats, and fruits that you can find, all of them delicious and all of them healthy.

If you prefer a more Westernized shopping experience, you’ll have access to Safeways, Lucky’s, Whole Foods, and even a Trader Joe’s that’s located in close-by Danville.

Get Your Glow On

Last but not least, you can’t overlook San Ramon’s proximity to some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful beaches. In just under 45 minutes, you could be catching some rays at Playa Dona Ana, a beautiful beach equipped with picnic tables, grills, public restrooms, showers, and more.

Other beaches can also be reached, but Playa Dona Ana is definitely a favorite since it’s frequented by the locals and is known for being clean and safe.

Great beaches, great food, and more? What else could you ask for? Don’t wait another minute to find your perfect property in San Ramon.
